Specialist IT consultancy, Monad Solutions Ltd (Monad) was approached by an independently managed organisation that acts as a central point of information for further education, to establish an in-house rule writing service, The Rules Service, responsible for Oracle Policy Automation (OPA) solutions.
The organisation, funded by a Government department, manages, collects, transforms and disseminates all further education data; the Organisation is also responsive to changing data needs.
The organisation began using OPA some two years ago, recognising the value of equipping non-technical staff with the capability and confidence to write business rules away from the usual technical and lengthy deployment constraints offered via the traditional coding route.
As a result, a number of business activities were targeted to be implemented in OPA including funding calculations and derived variable calculations. In addition, major databases were targeted for use of OPA.
It became clear that a greater level of control and centralisation of skills and capabilities was necessary if OPA was to be exploited fully.
Monad worked closely with the organisation to establish and launch The Rules Service. In addition, Monad provided comprehensive training in advanced OPA use, testing and a support function responsibilities.
The Rules Service was responsible for successfully implementing the new technology and analysis methodology; organising previously fragmented consumers; enabling closer liaison with business users where there had been a divide between the policy makers and system implementers – and building awareness and understanding of the huge benefits of OPA.
As the only OPA Gold Partner in the UK, Monad has successfully launched The Rules Service delivering a plethora of benefits.
Through the provision of OPA customised offerings, the introduction of new products and services and bespoke training, the overall quality of service has been enhanced. There will be an increase in productivity in managing data, capacity, capability, and reliability, while IT development time and risk will be reduced. This will improve return on assets, budgetary control, and customer satisfaction.
Michael Fairweather, Managing Director at Monad added:
“It has been tremendously rewarding to work on such a large scale transformative project, by bringing our wealth of OPA expertise and training skills to the table. We look forward to continuing to work with The Data Service in the future”
